We are sad to announce the passing of Ed Gibson on Sunday April 10, 2011. Ed was one of our longest and most dedicated volunteers. He was the Vice President of the New Friends since 2008.
John Smith, Keeper from 1859 to 1861, was my 3rd great grandfather. His son, Levin, Assistant Keeper, was my 2nd great grandmother’s brother. Their families used to live in the original quarters for the keeper and assistant.
I have not been able to visit the lighthouse yet, but I definitely plan to do it soon. It’s a bit of a jaunt from Calgary, AB to Delaware!
I am wondering if anyone could tell me who the people are that live in the keeper’s house now or how I could contact them. I guess what I am interested in is to know if I could get some pictures of the inside of the home. I’m sure a lot of remodelling has been done, but I would love to just get the feel of where my ancestors lived.
